In 1984, Michael Larson -- an Ohio man who had worked odd jobs his whole life -- figured out how to read the electronic board's moves on the CBS game show "Press Your Luck" (1983-86). For years, he held the record for the most money won by a contestant in one appearance on a daytime game show. And he died penniless.
